Blank preview screen
The scene detection clearly works, as I can see the thumbnails of each shot after completion. DVOs render too. My issue is that the preview screen is completely blank, for any format that I try.

Hi , Make sure you're parked on a clip with the playhead, then move your mouse cursor to the Preview area and press "F" on your keyboard to fir the image.

I actually opened a support ticket on Atlassian and had a brief exchange with your colleague (Mr. Smith). One of the suggestions was to try what you said above, but it didn't work, unfortunately. When exporting, it is clear that the DVO effects have been applied; shot detection works too (as the new thumbnails are visible). But it is obviously way less than ideal that I can't see any results without exporting. Would appreciate any further suggestions!

if you press "Q" on your keyboard to play the source, can you see any image?

On the right hand side of the screen, next to the "Split" drop-drown menu, there's another drop-down. Try to select "Source" there instead of "Event" and see if that helps.

Tried both, still a black preview area. One thing worth noting is that CC tools have an effect when exporting, and all the relevant data (like levels) is displaying correctly in the effects tab. But no live-analysis tools work while playing (i.e. vectorscope, parade, histogram, etc), they assume a blank screen.

I'm not sure why the Preview window would not show any image, especially considering that the thumbnails are being created on the timeline. If you double-click on the clip in the library window, does the source window show you any image?
Two suggestions... one, make sure your GPU driver is up to date, and two, try reinstalling the software over the current install. You won't lose anything, and it might fix any issue that could have occurred during the installation. If neither of the two works, we can maybe set up a remote session and try to troubleshoot the issue.

I've attached a screenshot of the source image screen here. Cutting the source up generates the thumbnails just fine, DVO & CC effects are also consistently applied when exporting - clearly demonstrating that it has absolutely no problem with R/W, just with previewing. Updating the driver had no effect. One thing that may be worth pointing out is that I'm using integrated graphics (with an Intel 285K processor). Could this be an issue? I did see that someone else is using integrated graphics without a hitch: https://forum.filmworkz.com/t/83h4t4y?r=m1h4zfb - It's a shame as the render times are good for me (I'm working with SD/HD material, not anything like 6K DPX scans!).

Following on from my previous response above (now unable to edit it):
I just checked out the "GPU PREVIEW AND CACHE" PDF document, and the answer may lie with this:
Starting in version 2017.1, more use is made of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) hardware on your graphics card for rendering effects "on-the-fly" in real time (where possible). To support this, the effect caching and člean-up functionality has also been extended.
The GPU is used for displaying and previewing shot playback and effects on screen. The CPU will be used for any renders that are saved to disk (including any caches)
This would explain why exporting works and live-playback doesn't. Is there any way to force playback with the CPU, or implement this as a feature in the future?

You can try turning off the GPU readback by clicking on the GPU button on the right of the MON button and see if it works:
It will disable certain features, but it could hint at what's happening.
