playing with some FX layers and some CC layers

Hi all,

in case you have:

  • 3 new FX layers (I mean the default FX layer + 3 new ones), and
  • 4 new CC layers (I mean the default CC layer + 4 new ones)

when you choice:

  • play Source --> ok, Phoenix plays source video, without any FX or CC applied
  • play Input FX --> what happen?
  • play Base --> what happen?
  • play Output --> what happen? Phoenix play final result, right?
  • play Selected--> what happen? What's it for?

Thanks for support.

  • Ok, let's explain each case, but the basic rule is that processing will happen from top to bottom of the stack, so default layers will follow their processing order.

    • Play Source: plays the source files and ignores everything; it's a full bypass
    • Play InputFX: only plays the results of effects applied to InputFX
    • Play Base: play InputFX and Base
    • Play Output: full result of the stack, it's the default option
    • Play Selected: it will play the result of all layers up to the selected layer; the selected layer will be highlighted yellow.

    Quick example of Selected:

InputFX with a couple of DVO, Base a couple of CC layers and an FX layer with a color convert tool. If you select the first CC layer, it will show the result of everything up to that selected layer, ignoring any layers below.

Play InputFX: only plays the results of effects applied to InputFX --> You mean only the "InputFX" will be considered, not my others InputFX layers, right?

Play Base: play InputFX and Base --> You mean only the "InputFX" and "Base (CC Layer)" will be considered, not my others InputFX layers and my others CC Layers, right?

    Thanks!

  • It's important to understand the nomenclature, here, Mario Rossi . InputFX is the name of the very first layer you see, any other effects are applied as FX Layers. So, when you use "play InputFX" it will only play effects applied to the InputFX layer.

For "Play Base", InputFX happens before Base, so it will be also added to the result.
