ProRes4444XQ and Alpha

We used for background rendering ProRes444XQ instead of DPX. We worked with 2 tracks, one of them having a alpha channel. During the work the alpha's looked good, but the rendered files came out badly. Sometimes allright, sometimes without alpha and sometimes halfway the clip the alpha was gone.

  • Hi Ruud de Bruyn ,

Are you setting up the alpha channel with the Matte source tool? You need to turn on the "From Source" button and use the Dropdown on the right the select from where the alpha is coming from.

If you still have issues after setting this up, please send us a link with the file so we can test it here and troubleshoot.

    Best,

  • Hi Gustavo,

These settings were OK and we looking at them all right. The thing is that the EXPORTs were not OK. Some clips OK, some clips half, some clips even without the alpha.  We deleted all caches and set the rendering cache to DPX. After that the problem seemed to be solved. So, I guess, the PRORES cache renders don't work well in this case.
